Onsala(T): Playback was poor on all tracks during the first 3 hours, with parity error rates typically 1-10% and sometimes >10%. As a result, phase cal phases had excess scatter of ~20 deg peak-to-peak between channels -- see note below. Seshan(C): Tagged along for the first 6 hours as a test of their new wideband system. Many X-band G codes due to reduced sensitivity in the higher frequency channels -- probably a feed effect. S and X phase cal phases and cable cal show hourly, periodic variations with amplitude roughly 50 ps peak-to-peak. The origin of the variations is under investigation. It is uncertain whether the phase+cable calibration data are reliable. Analysts beware! Westford(E): High X-band Tsys for last 4 hours due to rain/snow mix. Loss of track 32 due to poor playback from 18:30 to 19:05 led to a bias in the channel X7 pcal phase of 29 deg -- see note below. These Westford data were refringed with an adjusted value for the X7 additive phase to correct for the bias. Any clock break at 19:05 should be <5 ps. Wettzell(V): Out for Intensive from 18:30 to 20:14. X-band Tsys was 20 K higher than normal for last 4 hours due to rain. Occasionally poor playback on track 30 between 11:00 and 13:00 caused biases in the channel X7 pcal phase of ~10 deg in some scans. Biases in the multiband delay should be only ~5 ps. Note about a relationship between tape playback quality and extracted phase cal phase when using fan-out: When data from a frequency channel are fanned out to multiple tracks, poor playback on a track can bias the extracted phase and amplitude of the channel phase cal signal due to aliasing effects. In the core-3 experiments, the bit stream from each channel is fanned out to two tracks, with successive bits assigned alternately to the two tracks. If a track is completely lost due to poor playback (and barrel rolling is not enabled), the baseband signal as reconstructed at the correlator will effectively have been undersampled by a factor of two. With a baseband bandwidth of 4 MHz and nominal channel sample rate of 8 Mbps, the phase cal tone at 4010 MHz will be aliased to 10 kHz, and the observed 10 kHz tone will be the vector sum of the unaliased 10 kHz and 4010 kHz tones.
